In short
Bloom doesn’t collect any data about you. There’s no account, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. Your journal stays on your iPhone and in your own iCloud account, where the developer can’t see it.
This policy covers the Bloom app for iPhone and this website. Bloom is made by Calmon Digital, referred to below as “the developer”.
What Bloom collects
Nothing. Bloom has no servers of its own and sends nothing to the developer or to anyone else. It contains no third-party code for analytics, advertising, crash reporting or tracking, and it doesn’t link anything you do in the app with other apps or websites.
On the App Store, Bloom’s privacy label is Data Not Collected.
On your iPhone
Everything you add to Bloom is stored on your iPhone: your brews, recipes and pour plans, tasting notes, ratings and taste marks, bags and their stickers, cup photos, grinders and espresso machine profiles.
You can delete any of it in the app at any time. Deleting Bloom from your iPhone removes the copy stored there.
iCloud sync
Bloom keeps your journal in step across your devices using Apple’s iCloud, in the private database of your own iCloud account. The data is stored and handled by Apple under Apple’s privacy policy. The developer has no access to your iCloud data and can’t read, change or delete it.
If you’re not signed in to iCloud, or you turn iCloud off for Bloom in Settings, your journal stays on that iPhone only. You can remove Bloom’s iCloud data in Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Manage Account Storage.
Camera and photos
- Camera. Bloom asks to use the camera so you can photograph your coffee bags and your cups. It’s used only while you’re taking a photo.
- Choosing a photo. When you pick an existing photo, Bloom uses the system photo picker, which gives it only the photos you choose. Bloom can’t browse your library.
- Saving brew cards. If you save a brew card from the share sheet, iOS asks whether Bloom may add photos to your library. That permission only lets Bloom add images, not see them.
- Stickers. Cutting a bag out of its photo happens on your iPhone. The photo isn’t uploaded anywhere.
Sharing and export
Nothing leaves Bloom unless you choose to share or export it, and then it goes only where you send it, through the iOS share sheet.
Recipe links
A recipe link contains the recipe itself, written into the link: the coffee’s name, roaster, origin, roast level and process, the method and brewer, the machine profile or grinder name, the dose, water, temperature, grind and time, the pour plan and your rating. It never contains your notes, your taste mark or your photos. The link isn’t stored on any server.
Brew cards
A brew card is an image made on your iPhone. It can show your photo of the cup, the coffee, your rating and taste, and your notes. You decide whether the photo and the notes are included before you share it.
Export
Export data in Me creates a JSON file of your brews, bags and grinders on your iPhone. You choose where it goes.
Once you’ve shared a link, card or file, the people and apps you sent it to have their own privacy practices.
Information from Apple
If you’ve turned on Share With App Developers in Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements, Apple may share crash reports and basic usage statistics with the developer. Apple provides these without identifying you, and they’re used only to find and fix problems. Apple also gives the developer aggregate App Store figures, such as the number of downloads. You can turn this sharing off in the same place.
This website
This website has no cookies, analytics, ads or embedded third-party content. Its fonts and images are served from this site. The service that hosts it may keep standard server logs, such as IP addresses and the pages requested, to run and secure the site.
If you email for support, your message and email address are used only to reply to you, and aren’t shared with anyone.
Children
Bloom is suitable for all ages. Because it collects no personal information from anyone, it collects none from children.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. If a change ever means Bloom starts collecting data, that will be stated clearly here before it happens.
