Getting started
Do I need an account?
No. Bloom has no account and no sign-up. Open it and log your first brew.
Which iPhones does Bloom work on?
Any iPhone on iOS 17 or later. Bloom is made for iPhone only, so it isn’t available for iPad or Mac.
How do I add a bag of coffee?
Tap the + at the bottom right, then New bag. Take a photo of the bag (or choose one) and Bloom cuts it out as a sticker for your shelf. Add the roaster, origin, roast level and roast date, and a rest period if you like your coffee rested.
How do I see the welcome tour again?
Go to Me and tap Replay the welcome tour.
Brewing
How do I log a brew?
Tap the + at the bottom right, then New brew. Pick the coffee, grinder, method and brewer, slide the numbers into place and tap Save brew.
A new brew starts from your last one with the same coffee, so most of the time you only change one or two numbers.
How does the guided brew timer work?
In New brew, turn on Pour plan and add your steps (bloom, pour, swirl, wait, stir or press), or start from a preset split like the 4:6 method. Then tap Brew with the timer and Start.
Bloom shows the grams to reach for each pour, the time left and what comes next. When you finish, the brew time is filled in for you.
What does the taste scale do?
Mark each cup from sour to bitter. Bloom then suggests what to change next time: finer or hotter for a sour cup, coarser or cooler for a bitter one. A balanced cup means you’re dialled in.
What’s a go-to recipe?
Mark your best brew of a bag and it becomes that bag’s go-to. It sits at the top of the bag’s page with a Brew with this button, so you can make it again in one tap.
Does Bloom work for espresso?
Yes. Choose Espresso as the method to log dose, yield and time, and tag each shot with a machine profile so you can tell your setups apart.
Sharing
How do I share a brew?
Open the brew and tap the share button. Choose Share card to send an image of the cup, or Copy link to send the recipe so a friend can brew it in Bloom.
On the card you decide whether to include your photo and your notes.
What’s inside a recipe link?
The coffee, roaster, origin, roast and process, the method and brewer, the dose, water, temperature, grind and time, the pour plan and your rating.
Your notes, your taste mark and your photos are never in the link.
A recipe link doesn’t open.
Recipe links open in the Bloom app, so the person you send one to needs Bloom installed on their iPhone.
If Bloom opens but no recipe appears, the link was probably cut short or changed on the way. Ask for it to be sent again, ideally by copying the link straight from Bloom.
Sync and your data
How does iCloud sync work?
Bloom syncs your brews, bags and grinders through your own iCloud account, automatically. There’s nothing to set up and no toggle in the app.
You can check the status in Me, under Sync.
My brews aren’t showing up on my other iPhone.
Check that both iPhones are signed in to the same Apple Account, that iCloud is turned on for Bloom in Settings > [your name] > iCloud, and that both have a connection. Sync can take a few minutes after you open the app.
How do I export my data?
Go to Me and tap Export data. Bloom creates a JSON file with every brew, bag and grinder, which you can save to Files or send anywhere you like.
Photos and bag stickers aren’t part of the export.
How do I delete my data?
Swipe or open any brew, bag or grinder to delete it. Bloom always asks before deleting anything.
To remove everything, delete Bloom from your iPhone, then remove its iCloud data in Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Manage Account Storage.
Does Bloom collect any data about me?
No. There are no accounts, ads, analytics or tracking. The privacy policy has the details.
